If you’re into gaming news even the slightest bit, you were probably aware of all the Killzone hype at E3 2005. Sony showed off a pre-rendered (not actual gameplay graphics) trailer for Killzone 2 on the PlayStation 3, and people basically started bouncing off the walls. Most assumed that it was actual gameplay, since parts were in first person, and it was the best looking thing anyone had seen. Sony mostly kept quiet about the whole thing, but people began to realize that the PlayStation 3 was still over a year from release and this looked like a finished product. The entire trailer was actually computer generated graphics, but Sony has since said that the real game will live up to the trailer that was on display at E3 2005. Although Killzone 2 is still many months from release, Sony seems to be getting things geared up on the PSP with Killzone Liberation.

Killzone Liberation takes place just two months after the events of the first Killzone on the PlayStation 2. You are fighting a postmodern war against the Helghast. The game is a third-person shooter and your main objectives are to fight off the Helghast and rescue hostages. You will travel through various terrains, wield loads of different weapons, and maybe even get to drive a tank or two! Best of all though, the game looks and sounds great.
Killzone Liberation on the PSP has outstanding visuals and audio. The audio and visuals are definitely the best aspect of the entire game and really creates a unique experience that goes along with the Killzone theme. The game is a third person shooter, but the camera is more of a bird’s eye view of the action. This allows you to see a good part of the level so you know exactly what is going on.
The graphics for this game are very well done, very detailed, and the character animations look realistic. Keep in mind that this is just a portable game, so we aren’t talking next-gen graphics here, but this is definitely one of the best looking handheld games to date.

The background music is dramatic, warlike, and adds just the right mood to the game. In-game sound effects are another great part of the sound of this game. Everything from gunshots to the sound of defusing a bomb sounds neat and realistic.
