For those wondering what sort of music or videos will be appearing in this anticipated sequel, fear not. You won’t find anything from David Hasselholf or John Tesh in this game. For starters, music videos from Gwen Stefani, Chemical Brothers, Black-Eyed Peas, Fatboy Slim, Missy Elliot, New Order, and Beck are there to make the cut, and that’s just to name a few. There will be more than 60 different videos in the game and some will be rewarded only through game completion percentages. Other music featured in the game will also come from the likes of Mondo Grosso (Shinichi Osawa), who composed the theme from the original Lumines. There’s also going to be featured tracks from Stigmato Inc., and Breezer. The music and videos in Lumines II almost seems on par with something from Konami’s Revolution franchises. It definitely seems as if the audio and visual aspect of Lumines II seems to be shaping up better than anticipated.
Also new to the series is the option to mix and match videos and levels. Instead of music or videos being attached to a specific level, players will have the option of alternating videos with a playing level. There will also be a play list option so players can setup what videos they want to play and what order to play them in, and all are driven from the menu that can be accessed during the game. Speaking of difficulty, Lumines II will now feature three distinct settings, going from easy, to medium, to hard.

As for the modes and puzzles...there will be a new Mission mode with 50 original levels. What makes the mission mode different from the other standard modes is that there are objectives that players must complete in Mission mode. Each objective or task will vary in difficulty. Such tasks range from having players to use a limited amount of moves to complete a level, or clear out so many blocks within a time limit. In addition to this, the returning Puzzle mode will still be there, this time featuring 100 levels which become harder the closer players get to number 100. The game will also come jam-packed with a plethora of multiplayer modes via ad hoc.
What was already a big hit for the PSP is bound to be an even bigger success with the new modes, bigger music selection, and the addition of music videos. PSP owners should be sure to keep an eye out for this title when it hits shelves on November 7th.
