The three letters ‘G’ ‘T’ ‘A’ are almost synonymous with controversy...and it's likewise a guarantee to keep Rockstar financially afloat in this cutthroat industry. So it only makes sense, coming off the success of Liberty City Stories, that Rockstar keep GTA fans satisfied with the fourth installment: Vice City Stories. All the open-ended action, from the gorgeous re-take of the fictional Miami, is now coming to the PSP this fall.
While VCS takes place in 1984, players will not be in control of Tommy, instead players will take control of Vic Vance. VC gamers might remember Tommy’s friend, Lance Vance, bringing up a little backstory about his brother Vic. Regardless, Vic is an ex-marine who is out of luck -- and out on the streets. Vic has but one choice: to make it big in Vice City, or die trying. Vice City gamers probably already know the outcome to this story. But hey, no one really cares why the main character does anything. The only thing that matters in GTA, is how players get to do what it is that they want to do. Like previous iterations of the series, this handheld port still takes place in the open-ended cityscape of Vice City; and still includes fast cars, beautiful beaches, glamorous women, and a lot of gun-totting criminals.

Grand Theft Auto
If you don’t know by now, Grand Theft Auto is a series of games about open-ended gameplay with lots of action, tons of driving, and a comically-mature story. No matter what version, series, or number it is, all GTA games offer players the option to complete the game in a number of ways. Grand Theft Auto has become known for being controversial for its content, but in reality, Rockstar offers gamers the simple act of freedom.

Water vehicles are new to VCS
Vice City Stories, like Liberty City Stories and every other GTA game before it, encourages players to enjoy the game the way they like. Side-missions, bonuses, and so on, are all there for players to take part and complete however they see fit -- within the structure of the mission. The ability to roam freely and take on missions has always been the backbone to GTA games, and it’s nothing new with Rockstar’s latest installment.
Vice City Stories
Unlike it’s pseudo-predecessor (Liberty City Stories) VCS will feature a much longer story arc, and tons more missions. Players will get more insight into the overall character development of Vic and his transgression from a Marine to a criminal. Over the years, gamers may have noticed a slow incline in story-to-character development in GTA games, when the original games (even GTA3) did not concern the actual player-character. Many of the missions contained other characters talking around and about to the player-character, and the player’s character wasn’t much more than a cardboard cut-out. Since Vice City, Rockstar has made sure there is a lot more going on in the character development aspects of the story. There’s also more insight and story involvement with Lance in this game. He’s Vic’s nerdy looking brother who’s still more or less a sidekick, but he still gets to take part in some of the action.
